Jose Martho Velazquez

Beloit - Jose Martho Velazquez, age 54, of Clinton, passed away on October 23, 2020 at Janesville Mercy Hospital. Jose was born on November 9, 1965 in Jalisco, Mexico, the son of Irineo and Maria Luisa (Cervantes) Velazquez. Jose married Carmen Govea Pereyra on March 31, 1989. “For his invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world’s creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship, so that they are inexcusable” (Romans 1:20) Jose has worked at Beaver Creek/Klehm’s Song Sparrow for over 30 years. He enjoyed working with perennials and being outside. With a true passion for nature. He absolutely loved nature and all of God’s creations. His love for perennials was well recognized by everyone so much that he had a tree named after him called “Acer truncatum ‘Velazquez’.” Jose was known to be a professional golfer (self-claimed), botanist, grower, field manager, propagator, world traveler, physical fitness trainer (1989-96), movie/music critic, restaurant prompter, art collector, and antique collector. Whose hobbies include reading, gardening/planting, photography, puzzles and singing. He was a devoted Wisconsin Badger and a recent Wyoming Cowboy fan. One of his biggest accomplishments was being a husband and father. Jose Martho did everything he could to give his family a life full of joy. He would bring flowers to his loving wife once a week. His children, Adrian and Xochitl, had looked up to their father as an inspiration growing up, which still holds true to this day. His life story has been an inspiration to many in living the great life he lived, filled with success and passion. The type of man that always offered a lending hand in any way he could. Jose was truly a selfless man thinking of others more than himself. Jose is survived by his wife, Carmen Velazquez of Clinton, children, Adrian and Xochitl Velazquez.
