David Lee Morris Sr.

David Lee Morris Sr was the youngest of two sons born in Indianapolis, to the union of the late Paul and Genevieve Morris, on September 18th 1951. David Sr was raised as one of Jehovah Witnesses. In the spring of 1968 he made the truth his own and symbolized it by water baptism. He received his secular education in Indianapolis, which included graduating from Crispus Attucks High School in 1969. Soon after that he started a family and became the proud father of three sons. David Sr was a skilled tradesman for General Motors. He remained there for over thirty years until he retired. While in Indianapolis he attended two congregations: Riverside and Meridian. After moving to Wisconsin, he attended the River Valley congregation in Beloit. For the past fourteen years he attended the Riverview congregation in Janesville. There he had the privilege of serving as a ministerial servant. In 2010, after retiring, he reached his goal of regular pioneering. That following summer in 2011, he attended Pioneer Service School. While there, unexpectedly, he met his future pioneer partner and wife Tammie Givens. They married the following summer on June 9th, 2012. David and Tammie worked in the Hospitality Department (Kitchen Crew) on the Local Design Committee. He and Tammie shared wonderful memories while involved in food preparation for the schools hosted at the Janesville Assembly Hall. David Sr enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren at every opportunity. Victoria and Christopher loved visiting with him in Janesville. Once David Sr and Tammie wed, her son, Tommie and grandson Jordan, became a part of his family. David Sr also looked forward to his visits to Indianapolis to spend time with life long friends and family members. David Sr fell asleep in death on the evening of November 21, 2020. His loving wife was there with him until the end. David Sr’s memories will be held closely in the hearts of his wife Tammie; his two sons, David Lee Morris Jr (wife Rae) and Jon Micheal Morris; and his stepson, Tommie Jabrelle Smith. His grandchildren, Victoria Howard ( husband Jeremy) and Christopher David Morris; along with Jordan Smith, Tequita and Temecca Kelley; and his brother, Robert Morris. Sadly his middle son, Paul Robert Morris preceded him in death in 2018. In addition to those mentioned above, David Sr will be dearly missed by a large spiritual family, which includes long time friends and relatives who loved him.
